§ Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department who sanctions either the police authorities or the Department of the Director of Public Prosecutions to release literature, films or pictures which had been confiscated on the grounds of obscenity to psychiatric hospitals and units for use in the treatment of psycho-sexual problems.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsMy sanction would not be required. The Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis informs me that his force does not release obscene material in its possession for this purpose. I am not aware of the release of such material by any other police forces; but, if the hon. Member knows of instances where this is alleged to have occurred, perhaps he will let me have the particulars.
Any question concerning the Director of Public Prosecutions is a matter for my right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General.
