§ Miss Margaret JacksonI recognise that deaf teachers might have special insights into the learning problems of deaf children, but their hearing loss is bound to be a serious disadvantage. I am advised that only the exceptional deaf person can be expected to cope with the demanding classroom situation, including the special difficulties of oral communication; and such a person can already be considered for acceptance for teacher training in this country.
