HL Deb 01 April 1976 vol 369 cc1395-6WA
Baroness VICKERS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will give a list of the areas where Industrial Tribunals are held and whether, in view of the recent legislation for equal pay and opportunities for women, they will state the number of women serving on these tribunals in each area.

Lord JACQUES

Industrial Tribunals are currently held on a permanent basis in the following towns:

England and Wales:

  • London
  • Ashford (Kent)
  • Bedford
  • Birmingham
  • Brighton
  • Bristol
  • Bury St. Edmunds
  • Cambridge
  • Cardiff
  • Derby
  • Exeter
  • Leeds
  • Leicester
  • Liverpool
  • Manchester
  • Middlesbrough
  • Newcastle-upon-Tyne
  • Nottingham
  • Sheffield

Scotland:

The Department of Employment is currently appointing a large number—700—additional members of industrial tribunals. Any information given now about the number of women members will as a result be out of date almost immediately. I will therefore write to the noble Baroness giving full information when these appointments have been completed.
