§ Mr. Goldingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he intends to introduce legislation to implement the Law Commission's report on conspiracy; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe Government welcome the Law Commission's recommendations that the offence of conspiracy should be restricted to an agreement to commit a criminal offence and that the penalties for offences of conspiracy should be limited. I hope that it will be possible to introduce legislation early next Session. Meanwhile, I should welcome comments from interested groups, particularly on the proposals for new criminal offences in Parts II and III of the Commission's draft Bill.
