§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Industry how many applications his Department has received for grants under its current accelerated investment scheme; how many of these applications have been refused; and whether he will list in the Official Report the number of grants made, by firm and amount of the grant.
§ Mr. Gregor Mackenzie223 applications have been received. Of these, 43 have been withdrawn or rejected, and 19 offers have been made involving assistance totalling £27 million in relation to capital investment projects estimated to cost £177 million. The names will, in accordance with the arrangements notified to the House on 31st July 1974, be published in the quarter following the first payment. Companies which are prepared to have their projects disclosed are BP Chemicals International Ltd. (IRG of £10.14 million), Lucas Industries Ltd. (IRG of £3.7 million), and Ransome, Hoffman Pollard Ltd. (Loan of £4.9 million).
