§ Mr. MulleyThere is no absolute and agreed figure for the capacity of teacher training colleges. However, nationally the number of teacher training places is being reduced from a total of about 114,000 to about 60,000. The share of the 114,000 places attributable to the Manchester colleges is some 3,950. On this basis, the 1,850 places provisionally allocated to the Manchester colleges for 1981 would represent a reduction of about 53 per cent.
