§ Mr. Joel BarnettThe interest paid on the National Debt expressed in pounds per head of population of the United Kingdom during the years ended 31st March 1955, 31st March 1965 and 31st March 1975 was £13, £19 and £50, respectively.
At the level of population in mid-1974, interest payable on the National Debt in the year ending 31st March 1976, as forecast in the Financial Statement and Budget Report, would amount to £64 per head.
