Mr. Sillars

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a list of all the measures taken by the Government towards cutting the number of unemployed; and if he will show against each measure the amount of Government finances thus allocated.

In the last Budget Statement and subsequently we have announced the following measures to assist in reducing the number of unemployed:

In addition, £180 million has been allocated for the acceleration of capital projects by individual firms and for industrial modernisation schemes; an extra £20 million has been allocated to the building of advance factories and the modernisation of existing factories and industrial estates.

Broadly similar measures for Northern Ireland have been announced; the cost will be of the order of £9.5 million in 1975–76 and 1976–77.
