§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe Act is due to lapse, unless renewed, on 28th November. I have come to the conclusion that the powers conferred by the Act should be continued and, in accordance with the undertaking I gave the House last May, I therefore intend to introduce fresh 411W legislation. I am today laying in draft an order, which is subject to the Affirmative Resolution procedure, to continue the operation of the Act for an interim period while Parliament considers the new measures.
