§ Mr. HattersleyThe EEC Treaty provides that the Economic and Social Committee shall consist of representatives of various categories of economic and social activity appointed in their personal capacity. Membership is in three groups representing employers, employees and other interests. In selecting candidates for nomination the Government's concern is to find, after consultation with appropriate representative bodies, people most suitable for the job, having regard to qualifications, experience and willingness to serve.
