§ Mr. HattersleyEarlier reports of the immigration of mainland Turks to northern Cyprus were raised with the Turkish Government and the Turkish-Cypriot authorities. Recent articles in the British Press and on the BBC have been the subject of discussion with the Turkish Embassy in London, who repeated earlier assurances that there had been no organised resettlement, although they were aware of a number of seasonal workers from the mainland who had gone to Cyprus. Her Majesty's Government will continue to draw the attention of the parties to reports such as these of developments which, if confirmed, would be likely to damage the prospects for the intercommunal talks, which we earnestly hope will soon be resumed.
