To advise the Secretary of State on the general programme of research and development of the nationalised energy industries; and to advise on such other matters in the field of energy research and development as the Secretary of State may refer to it.This revision is without prejudice to the Government's consideration of the recommendations of the Select Committee on Science and Technology, in their report on energy conservation, for the setting up of new machinery for the development of a research and development programme aimed at energy saving, fuel substitution and new sources of energy. The Government will be making a formal reply to the report in due course.
