HC Deb 21 October 1975 vol 898 c146W
Mr. John Page

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will publish a table showing comparative figures for imports into the United Kingdom of umbrellas during the last five years, the countries from which they came and from which the largest number are imported and the manufacturing figures for British umbrellas for the same period.

Mr. Deakins

Figures of imports of umbrellas and sunshades, showing the principal supplying countries, are published under heading SITC(R) 899.41 in Table II of the Annual Statement of Overseas Trade for years 1970 to 1973 and for 1974 in Table III of the December issue of the Overseas Trade Statistics of the United Kingdom. The value of United Kingdom manufacturers' sales of umbrellas, sunshades, walking sticks, canes, shooting sticks and parts are published in Table 1 of the Business Monitor P94 for year 1971 and PQ 449.1 for years 1972 to 1974. Sales figures for 1970 are not available.
