HC Deb 21 October 1975 vol 898 c112W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what progress he has made in ending internment, releasing prisoners not sentenced, and generally creating conditions which would permit the withdrawal of British troops to barracks in the short run and to England in the long run.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

With regard to the first part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for Eastbourne (Mr. Gow) on 16th October 1975.—[Vol. 897, c. 796–97.]—The Army will continue to operate in aid of the civil power for as long as the security situation requires it.
