How many foreign-made cars or motorcycles are being used by Government Departments or police authorities, and how many at present are on order.

Baroness BIRK

No foreign-made cars or motorcycles are used by Government Departments in Great Britain for the normal carriage of passengers and none are on order. One car and 28 motorcycles are used at the Department of the Environment Driving Establishment, Harmondsworth for the training of driving examiners and three cars and six mopeds are in use at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, Bracknell for research purposes. Police forces in England and Wales use 162 foreign-made cars and 369 motorcycles. Information in respect of Scottish police forces is not at present available but it is being collected.

House adjourned at twenty minutes past eleven o'clock.
