asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local authority houses have been sold to tenants since 1st April this year; and how many were sold last year.

Local authorities in England and Wales reported selling 636 dwellings in April to August this year and 1,633 in the year beginning 1st April 1974. As these figures exclude houses built for sale, most, though not necessarily all, will have been sold to tenants.
