§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the reasons why he was not able to agree to the recommendations of the Licensed Residential Wages Council that the date of implementation of the latest award should be 6th October 1975.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe wages council's proposals were submitted to the Department on 8th September with the request that the wages regulation order should be made effective from the earliest practicable date. As I explained to a deputation from the workers' side of the council, because of the necessary procedures for making a statutory instrument, it was not possible for the order to be made effective on 6th October.
