§ Mr. Aitkenasked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the number of people unemployed in the Thanet area at 30th July and 30th August 1975; what percentage these figures are of the total workforce; and what are the comparable figures for these periods last year.
§ Mr. John FraserOn 14th July 1975, 2,286 people were unemployed in the area covered by the Margate, Ramsgate and Sandwich employment offices and the rate of unemployment was 5.1 per cent. On 11th August 1975, 2,497 people were unemployed and the rate was 5.6 per cent. The corresponding figures for July 1974 were 1,203 and 2.7 per cent. and for August 1974, 1,309 and 2.9 per cent.
