asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the average cost of disconnecting the supply of gas from the home of a consumer, through non-payment of charges.

I am informed by the British Gas Corporation that the average cost is about £6 where the supply is disconnected in the house.

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the average cost of reconnecting the supply of gas to the home of a consumer, through non-payment of charges.

I am informed by the British Gas Corporation that the average cost is about £4 where the disconnection was made within the house.

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the average, the minimum and the maximum charge for reconnecting the supply of gas to the home of a consumer, through non-payment of charges.

I am informed by the British Gas Corporation that, assuming the disconnection to have been made within the house, the charges made for reconnection vary from £2.75 to £7. The average is not readily available.
