HC Deb 28 November 1975 vol 901 cc333-4W
Mr. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what restrictions are imposed on the number of citizens of Greece and Turkey who may take up residence in the Republic of Cyprus under the 1960 Treaty concerning the establishment of the Republic; and what action Great Britain is taking as a guarantor Power, to make sure these restrictions are adhered to.

Mr. Hattersley

No such restrictions are imposed by the 1960 Treaty of Establishment. In any event, the obligations of the United Kingdom as a guarantor Power, which are set out in the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee, do not extend to ensuring compliance with the terms of the Treaty of Establishment.
