HC Deb 28 November 1975 vol 901 cc336-7W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any of 95,000 appeals to local valuation courts regarding the assessment for rating of holiday caravans which were pending on 13th October have yet been heard; and what action the valuation office of the inland revenue is taking to progress this matter further.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

None of these appeals has been heard. The listing of the cases is a matter for the clerks to local valuation panels, not the Valuation Office of the Inland Revenue. As far as possible, however, valuation officers discuss appeals in advance of hearings to explore the possibility of agreement, and this action continues.
