§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the progress of the construction of the Chess Valley section of the North Orbital Road.
§ Mr. CarmichaelIt is hoped to open the new road early next year, subject to weather conditions allowing the completion of outstanding works.
§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what objections and complaints have been received by both his Department and the Eastern Road Construction Unit regarding the Chess Valley section of the North Orbital Road; what replies have been sent; and what action is being taken in consequence of such representations.
§ Mr. CarmichaelA number of objections and complaints have been received since the proposals were first published in 1968. If the hon. Member will write to me giving details of any specific complaint he wishes to pursue, I shall be glad to look into the matter.
§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will investigate the delays in the Eastern Road 267W Construction Unit replying to correspondence concerning the Chess Valley section of the North Orbital Road; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CarmichaelMy right hon. Friend is not aware of any unreasonable delays in replying to such correspondence. If the hon. Member will supply me with details, I shall be glad to look into the matter.
