HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c167W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how much money has been spent by his Department on research and development into solar panels since January 1970.

Mr. Eadie

A study at an estimated cost of £30,000 has been carried out for the Department by the Energy Technology Support Unit at Harwell. This study assesses the prospects for using solar energy in the United Kingdom and identifies where further work may be needed. Its results will be considered by my Advisory Council for Research and Development. Proposals for research by my Department will take into account work pursued by other Departments and the international programmes on solar energy research.
