HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 cc203-4W
25. Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in the interest of preventing further loss of British life in Oman, he will declare it his policy to favour a negotiated settlement of the civil war in that country.

Mr. Ennals

We welcome any attempts to negotiate a settlement supported by the parties involved. The Sulton of Oman has recently requested friendly States represented in Aden to use their influence with the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen to call off their support for the rebels. We hope that those concerned will respond accordingly.
