HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 cc204-5W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, why Miss Yip Shui-Lung was repatriated to China from Hong Kong in spite of the fact that her mother and brothers lived in Hong Kong.

Mr. Ennals

I take it that the hon. Member is referring to the case of Miss Yip Shui-Lung, who was denied entry into Hong Kong in January last. The Hong Kong authorities carefully considered whether the presence of close relatives in Hong Kong constituted grounds for an exception to be made, thus permitting her to remain. They concluded, in the light of all the circumstances, that hers was not a special case. The Hong Kong Full Court upheld this decision.
