HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c201W
17. Mr. Aitken

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards arms sales to Middle East countries.

Mr. Ennals

There has been no change in the Government's policy towards arms sales to Middle East countries. The policy is well known and has been stated on a number of occasions. It is that we are willing, in the light of our judgment of the long-term policies of the State in question, to consider requests from Middle East countries for items the supply of which, in our view, would not endanger the achievement of a just and lasting solution to the dispute between the Arabs and Israel.
