HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c206W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the economic position of the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Ennals

The Falkland Island's economy is dependent on wool and is, therefore, vulnerable to fluctuations in international wool prices. My right hon. Friend has appointed Lord Shackleton as chairman of an independent economic survey of the Falkland Islands. We hope that the survey will identify potential areas for economic diversification and expansion.
