§ Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the current population of each local government region in Scotland; and what is his estimate of the likely population of each of these regions in 1985 and 1995, respectively, on the basis of current demographic forecasts.
§ Mr. William RossThe latest year for which estimates of the population have been prepared by region and islands areas is 1974, and 1992 is the latest year to which projections of the populations of these areas, based on the 1974 estimates, have been calculated. The figures are shown in the following table, together with the projected population for Scotland in 1995.
