§ 28. Mr. Woodallasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied with the standards of Army barracks; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Robert C. BrownSo long as some soldiers are required to live in hutted or sub-standard accommodation I cannot say that I am satisfied, but a major building programme to improve Army accommodation is going ahead as fast as financial resources permit. An extensive barrack modernisation programme is under way in Germany, and 11 barracks are being modernised in the United Kingdom. In addition, a number of surplus RAF stations with good accommodation are to be taken over by the Army.
