HC Deb 24 November 1975 vol 901 c35W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the official representation of Her Majesty's Government at General Franco's funeral and explain why the decision taken on this issue was reached.

Mr. Hattersley

Her Majesty's Government were represented at the funeral by the Lord Privy Seal. This was a conventional courtesy on the occasion of the funeral of the Head of State of a country with which we have diplomatic relations. Our views on the régime which has ended are in no doubt, and have not changed.
