HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 cc758-9W
Mr. Peter Walker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many skilled building workers in the categories given in his Written Answer to the Question from the hon. Member for Rochdale (Mr. Smith) on 4th November were unemployed in Wales and in the Northern Region.

Mr. Harold Walker

Following is the information:

Mr. John Fraser

On 9th October 1975 there were 76 school leavers registered as unemployed in the Thanet area. The main responsibility for helping school leavers to find employment rests with careers officers of local education authorities who are continuing to do all they can to help those still unemployed. Those without jobs will also benefit from the measures to alleviate unemployment announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 24th September, though it is too early to assess the full effects of these measures.
