asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of juveniles in prison establishments at the latest available date; how many boys; and how many girls were in local prisons; and how many of the total have been imprisoned for more than a week.

On 29th September, 1,667 juveniles, 1,599 of whom were males, were held in Prison Department establishments. Of that total, 30 males and 19 females were in local prisons, and 1,493 had been in custody for more than one week.
