HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 c835W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in how many cases of homicide recorded by the Ulster Police the motive is considered to have been political during the years 1972, 1973 and 1974, respectively.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

There were 468 deaths arising from the security situation in Northern Ireland in 1972,250 in 1973 and 216 in 1974. I am not in a position to assess the motives of those responsible.
