HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 cc845-6W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he has decided to alter the rôle of the Northern Ireland Finance Corporation so as to conform it to the rôle of the National Enterprise Board in Great Britain; and what consultations he has had on the matter with representatives of Northern Ireland opinion.

Mr. Orme

The Government intend to introduce shortly legislation revising the rôle and powers of the Northern Ireland Finance Corporation to bring them more into line with those of the National Enterprise Board. The Government's proposals for the future of the corporation have been formulated following widespread consultation with interested bodies in Northern Ireland, including the Economic Council, and have been presented to a number of interested Members of Parliament and to leaders of the Northern Ireland political parties. Copies of the proposals have been placed in the parliamentary libraries and publicised through the Press.
