HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 c705W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will set out in tabular form the number of dwellings in Great Britain at the end of December 1974 which were owner-occupied, rented from public authorities, privately rented and subject to other forms of tenure, respectively, giving also the total dwelling stock and the percentage represented by each tenure.

Mr. Armstrong

Estimates based on results of the 1971 Census, which did not distinguish between privately rented housing and "other" forms of tenure, appear on page 73 of Housing and Construction Statistics No. 13, a copy of which is available in the Library. "Other" tenures probably account for about 5 per cent. of the total stock and comprise dwellings, in public or private ownership, that are rented with farms or business premises or are occupied by virtue of employment.
