asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Chileans have been admitted to the United Kingdom since the overthrow of the Allende régime; and what records are being kept relating to their occupations and employment.

1,193 Chilean refugees are known to have recommendations, but I can see little prospect of a Government measure being introduced next Session. The introduction of a Private Member's Bill might be an appropriate way of enabling the House to express an opinion on these matters.
