HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 cc779-80W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science

Miss Joan Lestor

This information is derived from a 10 per cent. sample survey of school leavers. Figures for individual local education authority areas are considered unreliable due to the large sampling errors associated with these estimates. The following estimates for England and for each region relate to pupils leaving school during 1973–74.

  1. (1) how many agricultural research institutions there are in Wales:
  2. (2) if he will list in the Official Report the annual budget of each agricultural research institution in Wales.

Mr. Mulley

There is one agricultural research institute in Wales—the Welsh Plant Breeding Station, Aberystwyth. Its net expenditure is covered by a grant from the Agricultural Research Council, whose published estimates—Supply Estimates 1975–76, Class X, page X-60—include £1,062,000 for this purpose in the present financial year.
