HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 c563W
32. Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied that current Government expenditure on universities is adequate.

Mr. Mulley

I realise that the universities, in common with other sectors of education, have had to bear severe economies, and that the need for economy will continue. In the present financial situation I consider that the grant of £465 million for recurrent expenditure in the academic year 1975–76 is a reasonable settlement.
