HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 c642W
Mr. Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs why no Minister has attended the Kingdom of Tonga centenary celebrations.

Mr. Ennals

My right hon. Friend has expressed his regret to the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga that, particularly because of the short notice, it was not possible for a minister to attend these celebrations. My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister sent a message of good will to the Prime Minister of Tonga. Her Majesty's Government were represented by the British High Commissioner in Nuku'alofa who presented a gift from Her Majesty's Government.
