asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) if he will give details of the level of textile imports from Malaysia into the United Kingdom in each of the last 12 months; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will give details of the level of textile imports from Spain into the United Kingdom in each of the last 12 months; and if he will make a statement.

New controls on Malaysian textiles and clothing were announced in Notice to Importers No. 1520 of 7th November, following the entry into force of the EEC/Malaysia agreement on textiles under the GATT Multifibre Arrangement. Imports of textiles and clothing from Spain, as from most other sources, are subject to surveillance licensing.
