HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 c600W
Mr. Welsh

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give figures to show the number and monetary value of university student grants which are due but still unpaid; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Ross

51,000 grants, including about 28,000 university student grants, have been paid. About 400 university students, mainly those who were late in applying, have still to be paid. Not all of these grants have been assessed and it is not possible to put a monetary value on them. The outstanding cases are being cleared as quickly as possible.
