HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 c589W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what steps are being taken, in collaboration with the British Steel Corporation, to help find jobs for the 40,000 workers who will lose their jobs in the steel industry under the plan agreed between the British Steel Corporation and Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Kaufman

The Government are doing everything possible to attract new industry in the steel closure areas, including the maximum use of selective financial assistance under the Industry Act 1972 and the provision of Government factories. In addition, the British Steel Corporation has been encouraged to participate in new ventures there.
