Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many jobs for school leavers will be created by the job creation programme in (1) Cheshire, (2) Macclesfield and (3) Congleton.

The Manpower Services Commission has approved three projects from Cheshire, which will provide 65 jobs, mostly for young people, in Ellesmere Port. Macclesfield Borough

Council has expressed interest in sponsoring a project, but so far no applications have been received from either Macclesfield or Congleton. Two other applications from sponsors in Cheshire are receiving attention, and any further proposals which are forthcoming will be urgently and sympathetically considered.
