HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 c682W
Mr. Eyre

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Government's income policy permits payment of increments on salary scales to local government officers in addition to the £6 per week increase in salary already permitted.

Mr. John Silkin

Such payments would be consistent with the Government's incomes policy if the incremental and wage-for-age payments are made according to a well defined range or scale already in operation before 11th July 1975; the payments, together with any annual pay increase, do not raise the pay bill of the group concerned by more than £6 a head; and the officers concerned are earning less than £8,500 per annum.
