HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 cc575-6W
Mr. Gould

asked the Attorney-General whether he has any proposals to change the financial eligibility rules under the legal aid scheme to allow children to bring legal actions without recourse to their parents resources.

The Attorney-General

My noble Friend has no such proposals. The legal aid regulations enable the resources of a parent or other person liable to maintain a child to be disregarded in exceptional circumstances, and in practice the Supplementary Benefits Commission will normally disregard them where the child and the person liable to maintain him have a contrary interest in the proceedings.
