§ Mr. Gouldasked the Attorney-General whether he has any proposals to change the financial eligibility rules under the legal aid scheme to allow children to bring legal actions without recourse to their parents resources.
§ The Attorney-GeneralMy noble Friend has no such proposals. The legal aid regulations enable the resources of a parent or other person liable to maintain a child to be disregarded in exceptional circumstances, and in practice the Supplementary Benefits Commission will normally576W disregard them where the child and the person liable to maintain him have a contrary interest in the proceedings.
