HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 cc639-40W
Mr. Anderson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied with the response of local authorities to homelessness and the allocation of responsibilities in this field; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alec Jones

To establish how far local authorities had implemented the main recommendations of the circular on homelessness dated February 1974 my Department sent a questionnaire to Welsh authorities in May 1975. The responses show that progress has been made on the lines set out in the circular, but that practice varies from one authority to another. The results of the questionnaire will be taken into account in deciding, as part of the current homelessness review, how responsibilities should be further defined, and what further action is needed.
