HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 c583W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the estimated production of natural gas expected from oil and gas fields in the Scottish jurisdiction sector of the North Sea in each year to 1982; and if he will express these as proportions of natural gas consumed, respectively, in Scotland, England and Wales in 1974.

Mr. John Smith

The production estimate of 5000 m.c.f.d. in 1980, in the 1975 Brown Book, is for the whole of the United Kingdom Shelf. At present 95 per cent. of natural gas supplies to Scotland, England and Wales come from the Southern Basin. The main Northern Basin gas, from Frigg and Brent, is expected towards the end of the decade, but no annual production rates have yet been published.
