Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the Government grant to the Young Volunteer Force from the Voluntary Service Unit for 1972–73, 1973–74 and 1974–75; and what is the estimated grant for 1975–76.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

In 1972–73, a Government grant of £100,000 was made to the Young Volunteer Force jointly by the Voluntary Services Unit and the Department of Education and Science. The amounts paid by the VSU in 1973–74 and 1974–75 were, respectively, £135,000 and £186, 282. The grant currently estimated for 1975–76 is £238,000.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the grants which the Government has made through the Voluntary Service Unit to voluntary organisations, the organisations which have been financed, and the amounts involved.
