HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 cc546-7W
Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what instructions have been given by her to regional and area health authorities to purchase British textiles.

Dr. Owen

Health authorities have been asked to ensure first that tenders for the supply of textiles require the country of origin to be stated, and secondly that when awarding contracts on a value for money basis these origins are considered together with quality, durability, speed and continuity of delivery, convenience of production inspections and quality control and the conditions under which the goods are produced.
