§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Employment what advice he has given local education authorities concerning their extended duties under the 508W Employment and Training Act 1973 in the light of Department of Environment Circular 17/74 excluding these services from rate support grant.
§ Mr. John FraserGeneral guidance has been given by my Department to local education authorities in respect of the extension of the careers service to students in further and higher education. Some provision for these additional responsibilities is included in the current rate support grant, but the present restriction of public expenditure prevents a further expansion.
